About Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.
With founding offices in Washington, DC, and New York, Epstein Becker & Green has grown nationally and developed a reputation for its notable health care and labor and employment law practices.
The Great Triumvirate
In 1973, Steven Epstein and Jeffrey Becker co-founded a firm with branches in New York and Washington, DC. Several years later, Ronald Green joined the firm. The firm’s standout areas—health care and employment law—can be directly traced back to the founders’ areas of expertise. Steven Epstein has been hailed as a pioneer of the health care legal field. His legacy includes achievements such as establishing that health care organizations require a dedicated form of legal representation and helping managed care gain acceptance as the most prominent form of health care delivery. Given his deep industry roots, it’s no surprise that the firm has always been at the forefront of health care law.
Healing Healers and Defending Employers
As a national law firm with practices in corporate and securities, construction law, employee benefits, life sciences, immigration law, and litigation, Epstein Becker has represented high-profile clients like the NBA, Deutsche Bank, Pfizer, Aetna, Health Net and Continental Airlines. When it comes to health care, the firm has represented hospitals, managed care organizations, and other health care clients in everything from M&A to governance and compliance issues. Beyond its billable practice, the firm has had a hand in improving the health care system by establishing non-profit groups such as Women Business Leaders in Health Care and the Health Care Industry Access Initiative. The firm also sponsors an annual Health Law Writing Competition for law students.
In addition to its emphasis on health care law, many of Epstein Becker’s attorneys practice exclusively in the firm’s labor and employment law department, which is best known for management-side labor and employment work. Among others, employment law attorneys take on whistle-blowing, management-labor relations, and class action defense cases. The firm’s client roster is impressive, including the likes of media giants such as Bill O'Reilly, NBC, and McGraw-Hill. Epstein Becker also flaunts its cutting-edge expertise in the employment arena through initiatives like a Wage & Hour mobile app, multiple industry blogs, and a weekly video update called Employment Law This Week.
Diversity in Health Law
As a firm committed to improving diversity in the legal industry, Epstein Becker takes special pride in combining its health care prowess with its commitment to diversity. The firm is a founding sponsor of the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation, which supports senior executive women in the health care industry. The firm also supported the creation of the Advisory Council on Racial and Ethnic Diversity, which is an American Health Lawyers Associate initiative to expand diversity in the health care field. The firm also sponsors the Health Law Society at Howard University. The firm doesn’t stop at health care, though; Epstein Becker supports numerous diversity initiatives and organizations outside the health care-specific world, demonstrating a true commitment to growing diversity in the legal industry.
The firm has continued to recruit during the coronavirus pandemic. We have been conducting all interviews virtually via Zoom. For those attorneys that we have hired during the past year, we have successfully implemented a virtual orientation and onboarding process.
