About Greenspoon Marder LLP
Greenspoon Marder has made its name in Florida with eleven offices in the sunshine state, but the firm also has a broad domestic presence, with fifteen more offices around the country. The firm is best known for its experience in cannabis law, entertainment law, litigation, and real estate.
Cooking Up a New Firm
The idea for Greenspoon Marder began in a Florida kitchen in 1981. Gerald Greenspoon and Michael Marder decided to launch the firm together and haven’t looked back since—the two continue to lead the firm. Over the next four decades the firm experienced steady growth across Florida, opening offices in Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando to Naples to Miami—and everywhere in between. In 2014, the firm looked beyond Florida, opening an office in Las Vegas, NV. Since then, the firm has continued to expand, adding offices across the U.S. in Denver, CO; Edison, NJ; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; and San Diego, CA.
Pioneering Cannabis Law
With more than three dozen practices, Greenspoon Marder serves a range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, middle-market companies, startups, and individuals. The firm has a bustling cannabis practice, which even has its own website. Those working in this area must wear many hats—the firm’s cannabis practice extends across multiple practice areas, including contracts, employment law, entity formation, IP, land use, licensing and compliance, litigation, real estate, and tax. The firm has been named to the Entrepreneur Green 100 and pens a Cannabis blog that is featured on its site.
On the entertainment side, the firm has significant experience counseling on matters relating to music, television, technology, and film, as well as IP-related issues. The group’s experience ranges from contract negotiations and financing to licensing and marketing to social media regulations and deal negotiations, and much more. The group also works collaboratively with other groups across the firm to assist clients with such areas as corporate governance, employment issues, joint ventures, M&A, private equity, and real estate matters.
Not only does the firm counsel on social media matters and regulations—it is also active on social media itself. With a presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, Greenspoon Marder regularly shares updates on firm events and happenings, pro bono sponsorships, awards, and job openings.
