Our Survey Says
“The summer associate assignment system is very informal. It's eat-what-you-catch, but that isn't as intimidating as I imagined it would be. If there's something you want to work on, you can reach out directly or get someone (e.g., a partner or attorney) to reach out on your behalf. Quinn sends its conflict check emails firmwide, so it's easy to see what new matters are coming in. I've cold-emailed twice in response to conflict emails, both times getting to work on a case that I thought seemed interesting. You have a partner mentor, a senior associate/of counsel mentor, and a junior associate mentor—they provide another avenue to ask for work if you need or want it. The firm also has us send summary emails to the office manager/office coordinator each week, detailing what we've been working on, whether we need more work, and what kind of experiences we'd like to have but haven't.”
