About Kaiser Associates
Kaiser means king of fact-based strategy
Founded in 1981, Kaiser Associates is a global strategy consulting firm with offices in Washington DC, London, São Paulo, and Hong Kong.
Kaiser Associates’ client base is equally global. Its selective and elite client base includes 8 of 2020 Fortune’s Global 50 Most Admired as well as leading private equity firms and U.S. government entities.
Kaiser Associates offers employees a distinctive consulting experience that combines the client prestige and diverse opportunity of a large firm with the close-knit community of a small firm. With support from senior leadership and an entrepreneurial culture, consultants assume responsibility beyond age and tenure, affording accelerated development and stretch opportunities.
In recent years, Kaiser Associates has increased its investment in talent management, formal and informal training, and individual professional development to support growth initiatives through 2025 and beyond. The firm has introduced an individual professional development budget to encourage consultants to continue learning and accelerate skill building outside of its core curriculum. Kaiser Associates consultants care deeply about their work, their colleagues, and their communities, and their passion is reflected in their workplace engagement. Consultants regularly engage in service and diversity initiatives as well as fun events that grow the community and deepen collegial bonds.
Kaiser Associates was founded in 1981 as a spin-off of Strategic Planning Associates (SPA), which was itself a spin-off of BCG. From the very beginning, Kaiser has been dedicated to fact-based strategy and implementation. A better fact base drives better, faster & more confident decisions, and Kaiser’s specialized research capability creates the most robust and relevant fact base, with unparalleled richness and granularity. Kaiser was a pioneer of Benchmarking, publishing Beating the Competition: A Practical Guide to Benchmarking in 1985. Kaiser continues to help clients design and implement breakthrough solutions based on hard facts/benchmarks and proven results.
Going public (sector)
In 2010, Kaiser Associates established a Public Sector practice to bring the firm's private sector capabilities to U.S. government entities that face similar strategic and operational challenges. Kaiser combines Benchmarking and relevant commercial best practices with proven management frameworks to transform government organizations. Over the last decade, Kaiser has grown its presence and recognition in the Public Sector, including its high-profile 2018 win in the White House’s IT Modernization Centers of Excellence program. Also in 2018, one of Kaiser’s Public Sector Vice Presidents was nominated and appointed as the Under Secretary for Benefits in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Going the distance
With ~100 employees, international offices in exciting cities, and a variety of in-house language capabilities, Kaiser boasts a global reach to support its always-expanding client base. It serves global multinational clients from offices in Washington, D.C., London, São Paulo and Hong Kong. Because of the global nature of Kaiser's clients and work, consultants in the different regional offices often partner together on projects for the same multinational client, with opportunities for short-term transfers to other offices.
Challenging the travel paradigm (Pre-COVID)
Long before the pandemic, Kaiser challenged the Monday-Thursday paradigm of client travel, which in many cases does not deliver value for cost to our clients. Kaiser consultants travel and work at the client site as often as necessary to deliver our engagement objectives and to meet our client business and budget needs. Some activities are most efficiently and effectively performed at the client site, but other activities are best performed in Kaiser’s own offices and without any travel cost to our client. While travel requirements vary by engagement, Kaiser consultants generally travel less than their peers.
