Employment Prospects


According to the U. S. Department of Labor, in May 2016 nearly 40 percent of the 68,510 aerospace engineers employed in the United States work in the aerospace product and parts manufacturing industries. About 16 percent work for scientific research and development services, and 13 percent are employed in federal government agencies, primarily the Department of Defense and NASA. Other employers include engineering and architectural services, and navigational, measuring, electromedical, and control instruments manufacturing firms.
