According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median yearly income in May 2015 for cartographers and photogrammetrists was $61,880 annually. The lowest paid 10 percent of this group earned less than $39,470 annually during that same time. The highest paid 10 percent, on the other hand, earned more than $98,210 annually. In the public sector, cartographers and photogrammetrists earned the following annual mean wages: $86,740 working for the federal government; $57,930 working for the state government; $61,930 working for local government agencies. In the private sector, the mean annual wage for cartographers and photogrammetrists working in architectural, engineering, and related services was $64,390; while, their colleagues working for management, scientific, and technical consulting services earned an annual mean wage of $68,990.
