Civil Engineering Technicians

Work Environment

Technicians usually work 40 hours a week with extra pay for overtime. Working conditions vary from job to job. Technicians who enjoy being outdoors may choose a job in construction or surveying; those who prefer working indoors may work in a consulting engineer's office on computations, drafting, or design, or they may work in laboratories. In either case, the work done by civil engineering technicians is usually cleaner than the work done by most other construction trades workers.
