Customs Brokers

Outlook

Customs brokers will have good employment opportunities in the near future. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts there will be between 5 to 8 percent employment growth for business operations specialists, including customs brokers, through 2024. Customs regulations change regularly and as new regulations are introduced, customs brokers and other related professionals will be needed to advise clients of these changes and to help them keep their import and export operations compliant. This is a small field, however, with only 11,000 active licensed customs brokers employed in the United States. Customs brokers with a bachelor's degree, a customs broker license, and several years of work experience in customs brokerage will have the advantage in the job market.
