Fashion Writers and Editors

Starting around the 14th century, fashion trends were promoted via word of mouth and the exchange of fashion dolls. The development of the printing press by Johannes Gutenberg in the middle of the 15th century fostered the growth of printing publications, which eventually lead to publications dedicated to fashion. The first fashion magazine is generally thought to be a German publication that began in the late 16th century. In the United States, Harper's Bazaar is considered to be one of the oldest American fashion magazines. It was first published on November 2, 1867 and it is still published today. 

Fashion writers and editors were originally employed by newspaper, magazine, and book publishers. As technologies changed, fashion writers and editors began to discuss fashion on television and radio shows. Today, fashion writers and editors have a strong presence on the Web, as well.
