Certification or Licensing
The World Floor Covering Association offers the certified flooring professional designation to floor covering installers, industry cleaners, inspectors, and administrative support workers. Applicants for this voluntary certification must have a minimum of three years of experience in the flooring industry, subscribe to a code of conduct, have completed a minimum of 20 hours of professional development seminars and workshops, and pass a written examination. The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation, International Masonry Institute, International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, National Tile Contractors Association, National Wood Flooring Association, Tile Contractors’ Association of America, International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association, International Standards & Training Alliance, and the Tile Council of North America also provide certification programs.
