Food Technologists


Employment for food technologists is expected to grow by 6 percent through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, or about as fast as the average for all careers. The employment outlook varies by industry. For example, job opportunities for food technologists who work in consulting and scientific consulting are expected to grow by 21.5 percent, while employment in manufacturing is expected to grow by only 2.2 percent. Employment at federal and state government agencies is expected to increase by 0.5 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively, while job opportunities at federal government agencies are expected to increase by 5.6 percent. Employment for self-employed food technologists is expected to increase by 14,6 percent.
