The job prospects of people who wish to become fund-raisers are good. As federal funding of nonprofit organizations continues to decrease, these groups have to raise operating revenue themselves. They are discovering that hiring full-time fund-raisers is a smart investment. Private fund-raising consulting firms have also reported a need for skilled employees. These firms usually require some experience, but since there are so many fund-raising causes that will eagerly welcome volunteers, interested people should have no problem gaining experience. Both public agencies and private consulting firms keep a full-time staff of fund-raisers, and they may hire part-time workers during special periods and campaigns.
