The working conditions for professional fund-raisers can sometimes be less than ideal. During revenue campaigns, they may have to work in temporary facilities. Their working hours can be irregular, because they have to meet and work with volunteers, potential donors, and other people whenever those people are available. When campaigns become intense, fund-raisers may have to work long hours, seven days a week. With all the activity that goes on during a campaign, the atmosphere may become stressful, especially as deadlines draw near. So many demands are put on fund-raisers during a campaign—to arrange work schedules, meet with community groups, track finances, and so on—that they must be very organized, flexible, and committed to the overall strategy for the appeal.
