Employment for hotel managers is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all careers through 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. There will continue to be opportunities for lodging managers at eco-hotels/resorts as interest in sustainable travel and green destinations continues to grow. More eco-resorts are opening every year and will need managers to oversee operations. Competition is expected to be keen, however, as many of these jobs are in interesting locales, providing managers with opportunities to work in unique, natural settings. Typically, the number of applicants far outweighs the available positions. A bachelor’s degree in hospitality or hotel management, previous eco-resort management experience, and special skills and knowledge can boost a candidate's chance for the job.
