Historic Preservationists


The U.S. Department of Labor does not provide salary information for historic preservationists, but it does report that museum technicians and conservators, who perform work often similar to that of preservationists, earned a median annual salary of $40,340 in May 2015. Salaries ranged from less than $23,200 to $72,570 or more annually. Another similar occupation is curators, a profession with a median annual salary of $51,520 in May 2015, with the lowest 10 percent earning $28,440 and the highest 10 percent earning $91,710 or more. Curators who work for federal agencies earned mean annual salaries of $80,740.
