Many parking attendants work 40-hour weeks. The hours may vary if the parking garage or lot is open 24/7. Some attendants work evening and weekend shifts. The job may be indoors, parking vehicles in multi-level garages, or it may be outdoors, such as at sports arenas or fairs and other events. Outdoor work is in all types of weather conditions. Some parking companies require parking attendants to wear a uniform. The job can be hectic and stressful, particularly during business rush hour and just prior to and after event times. Parking attendants may also be exposed to car exhaust and fumes, particularly when working in parking garages. Attendants who work for large organizations may work closely with other attendants, parking lot cashiers or booth workers, and supervisors or managers.
