Petroleum Engineers

Employment for petroleum engineers is expected to increase slower than the average for all occupations through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The need for engineers to support mining activities, specifically, will support job growth. However, as always, oil prices will be a major determining factor when it comes to employment conditions in the industry. Some employment opportunities will increase due to a need to develop new extraction methods for getting more from existing resources as well as acquiring new resources.
