Public relations managers had median annual earnings of $116,180 in May 2019, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Salaries ranged from less than $64,790 to $208,000 or more annually. However, many factors may affect salary, such as the size and industry of a business, its location, and the overall size of the public relations department. The department reports the following mean salaries for public relations managers by type of employer: advertising, public relations, and related services, $162,140; professional, labor, political, and similar organizations, $153,130; colleges, universities, and professional schools, $116,320; and grantmaking and giving services, $129,460. Many firms offer benefits and compensation packages, including retirement plans, health and life insurance, or stock options that will further increase a manager's annual compensation.
