According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the May 2019 median salary for local and intercity bus drivers was $43,030. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,710 and the highest 10 percent earned more than $70,810. School bus drivers on average made less, with a median salary of $33,100. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $19,320 and the highest 10 percent earned $49,500 or more. Subway and streetcar operators earned salaries that ranged from less than $38,530 to $84,860 or more, with a median of $67,880.
