Tour Guides

Tour guides may find that they have peak and slack periods of the year that correspond to vacation and travel seasons. Many tour guides, however, work eight months of the year. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that in May 2015, median wages ranged from $8.55 per hour to $18.95 per hour (or from $17,790 to $39,410 or more annually), with medium hourly pay of $11.59 (or $24,110 a year). Travel guides earn from $9.59 per hour to $27.55 per hour or more (or $19,940 to $57,300 or more annually). Experienced guides with managerial responsibilities can earn more than $65,000 a year, including gratuities.
