Sikich is a leading accounting, advisory, investment banking, technology and managed services firm.
Sikich has built an internship experience that provides students with real work assignments related to their major and is recognized as being valuable throughout the firm. For example, accounting interns are responsible for preparing statistical and account analysis to aid in the preparation of financial statements. They prepare various tax returns and reconcile accounting work papers, fixed asset reports and tax journal entries. The length of each internship varies but can be between 3-6 months depending on the needs of the business and our clients. Sikich hires interns in various locations in the Chicagoland market, as well as Springfield, IL, Milwaukee, WI, Akron OH, Atlanta, GA, Indianapolis, IN, Boston, MA, and St. Louis, MO.
Interns participate in Sikich orientation as well as "New Joiner Core," which is a 2 day event filled with networking, team building and learning opportunities to get each intern acclimated with the firm. Interns have access to all the technical tools and resources they will need in order to succeed in their roles. Interns are offered flexible work arrangements to ensure they are able to balance their studies, work, and personal lives. Sikich provides real time feedback and provides interns with the opportunity to participate in the performance review cycles.
Continuous learning and development is important to the Sikich culture and has been identified as a core value. Sikich provides interns with on the job training as well as other training opportunities through Sikich University. Sikich University is a learning and development program with various leadership and core development training that combines a blended learning approach via instructor led and within virtual environments.
Sikich has been involved in providing scholarship assistance to a variety of universities. The firm has also been involved in providing assistance to the diversity program, Mary T. Washington Wiley. Historically, Sikich has been involved in providing advice, mentorship, and guidance to students including a resume workshop.
The compensation of an intern varies depending on the practice area they support. Interns are eligible to participate in 401k, attend company sponsored events, and receive welcome packages as they enter the firm.
At minimum Sikich requires interns to have a high school diploma and typically target students in their sophomore year. Minimal age is 18 years. Field of study varies, as they hire interns in multiple different areas of the firm from accounting to technology, to supply chain and marketing.
Sikich seeks interns with ambition and drive for continuous success as they grow. They like to see most of them as detailed oriented, excellent team collaboration, excellent communication skills, strong time management and work knowledge of the MS Office Suite. As a time commitment, interns dedicate either part time or full time into their role. Hours can range from 15-40 hours per week with the potential for overtime.
Sikich does not have an academic credit requirement as that varies. Some positions may require client visits, so it will be important for those interns to have a valid driver’s license. US Citizenship or permanent US Work Authorization is required.
